Vista battling compatibility issues

Vista or wasta?

I worked on my sixth day…very stressful after doing a 10 hrs shift! Was a bit keen on exploring Vista, actually as reading articles and blogs really didn’t make sense to me.

I decided to attend a 5 hour training to what’s the core of Vista. The branding we are brainwashed to see shows us a Windows version of the MAC OS, supported by a well copied MAC interface, warnings on every command I push to start a program, asking me “Do you want to run this file?”. At this point, it looks like- whats so good? -but, HEY! Training hasn’t start yet. So, I’ll keep the verdict until then.

People are not so dumb in using computer.

My day to day activity at work is to solve technical issues. It has made my work difficult and more time consuming with those commands popping up at every enter key stroke.

Users have no clue why the warning messages come in. Every time the warning message pops up, a novice user is pressurized to decide whether or not to start the program, as the possible devastation of the “BLUE SCREEN ERROR” looms in their minds.

That doesn’t mean you just pick up your new PC and throw it out the window!! When Windows XP was launched it was a complete disaster with no service packs and loads of RSVP invitations for hackers.

Service pack 1 and then 2, made Windows XP one of the best operating systems today. OS crashing was something that would happen only if you forced a program to be installed without verifying the signature. So, keep that PC down buddy! Relax.

TRAINING SHOWDOWN:
1:30 am (Yes, AM that isn’t a typo): Training was about to start, but delayed until 2am as the room was occupied with another batch.

2:00 am (Ahh fin-a-lllyyyy):
Training started. Boring sessions of presentations went on until 4am. *SIGH* Everyones whispering “when we gonna get to see it man???”. All of a sudden, a line made the whole batch miss a heart beat. “Vista is gonna occupy 15 Gigs”!! WHAT!!!!!!!! Isn’t that a little too much?? They expect 800 min and 1GHz min speed with 512 RAM?? I mean, Windows XP runs slow in 1GHz according to my test.

Training was hopeless coz my Senior Manager had to cancel it as there was an increase in the inflow of work. I was pretty upset as I didn’t like working on the 6th day after stressful 10 hrs.

In the mean time, I spoke with a tech from the other department of Vista about what the perception of the customer was for buying it and what issues ideally they would face.

He says till now there have just been issues about installation, upgrade and clean installation and the bit about Internet Explorer 7 and about drivers not being compatible. Then there were issues where some customers want to uninstall vista as some programs or rather, most programs were not compatible with vista so that was irritating them.

So, why is it being said that Vista is a clone of XP with compatibility, when Nvidia, Worldwide Leader in GPU technologies, also has a problem with their drivers on Vista?

Let’s hope Microsoft comes to the rescue of its customers.
